Speak Up! Protection religious students at IU

Friends,

We want to bring to your attention a very important matter that we feel will strongly and negatively impact ministries on campus. Indiana University has proposed a policy change for student organizations that requires them, in order to become registered, to agree that they will not consider any category in the nondiscrimination clause in the leadership selection process (race, sex, age, religion, etc).

ยท For religious groups (Cru, CSF, Navs, etc), this means they may no longer use the logical and long-accepted practice of choosing leaders who believe in and are able to teach the religious beliefs the group represents.

At this point in time, the administration is still deciding whether or not to implement this proposed policy change.

What can you do?

Because of the imminent nature of this decision, we are hoping that you can lend your voice and express concern to IU about this proposed policy. You are invited to attend a light breakfast to hear more about this proposed policy and how you can speak up on behalf of IU religious groups on Wednesday, March 9 at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

Enter through Door 20 – greeters will direct you to our meeting room. Light food options will be available at 6:45 with the meeting starting sharply at 7. The meeting will last no later than 8. All RSVPs can be sent to mark.johnson@cru.org.

Please consider making this meeting and issue a priority, as it has lasting consequences for the students on all IU campuses and the future of our state. On behalf of the religious community at IU, thank you. Your advocacy will be a tremendous blessing to students for years to come.
