We will do this annually at the start of the year.  Here are some guidelines and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"226\" src=\"http:\/\/menslifebloomington.org\/bloomenlife\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Word-for-Year-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"Word for the Year\" class=\"wp-image-1326\" srcset=\"http:\/\/menslifebloomington.org\/bloomenlife\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Word-for-Year-Logo.jpg 540w, http:\/\/menslifebloomington.org\/bloomenlife\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Word-for-Year-Logo-300x126.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">This might be a great way for us as men to give Jesus an opportunity to speak into our lives and to journey together as men. <br><br>You begin by taking a few days to pray and ask God to give you a word for the year. Here are some ideas. It may be a word:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>That describes an area of growth for you. (<em>leadership, confidence, creativity, learn<\/em>).<\/li><li>Is a pray for a need. (<em>finances, job, health<\/em>)<\/li><li>A state of mind (<em>surrender, peace, focus<\/em>)<\/li><li>A relational role (<em>parent, spouse, boss<\/em>)<\/li><li>A character train (<em>patience, kindness, love, integrity<\/em>)<\/li><li>Something you want to do (<em>explore, launch, expand<\/em>)<\/li><li>That helps you slow down (<em>pace, rest, sabbatical<\/em>).<\/li><li>As a reminder of a story from scripture (<em>boat, temple, Samaritan, mountain<\/em>)<\/li><li>Or whatever comes to mind&#8230;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">The key thing is that it is a word that will remind you what God said to you about how He wants to work this year. To help stimulate thinking you may want to take some time to read some Scripture passages, listen to some worship music, or talk to someone else. For some a word may have already come to mind. Or it may take a couple of weeks. This first group are some words and an expanded explanation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Discipline<\/strong> | Because of how I\u2019m not sticking with weight loss, quiet times, etc.<\/li><li><strong>Commitment<\/strong> | similar to discipline reason.<\/li><li><strong>Evangelism<\/strong> | Because I\u2019m involved in things related to it but am I doing it.<\/li><li><strong>Humility<\/strong> | Because of my concern with confidence turning into arrogance.<\/li><li><strong>Promise<\/strong> | Review and keep the promises I make.<\/li><li><strong>Gods Lens<\/strong> | My goal is to try to be and look at my every day and my every interaction through His lens.<\/li><li><strong>\u00a0Attack<\/strong> | This year through the Lord\u2019s strength and direction I can attack each and every single day. Attack through love and sharing the wonderful truth of the gospel.
